Pinay medical worker raped in Saudi Arabia
A Filipina medical worker in Saudi Arabia was raped by her two project managers, according to a "24 Oras" report on Monday.
The Filipina, had arrived in the KSA last February to work in a rehabilitation center.
However, the terms her of employment were not met and she asked her superiors' leave to return to the Philippines
Her employers then supposedly asked the OFW to pay 5,000 Saudi riyal (or
P58,000), to pay back two months of her salary and for a ticket home.
But
instead of being brought to the Riyadh for the flight back to the
Philippines, she was taken to Yanbu City where she was raped by her
Indian and Saudi project managers in an abandoned house.
"Nagmamakawa po ako sa kanila na huwag nila gawin," the OFW tearfully related.
Her
rapists tried to keep her locked up but she was able to seek help from
her fellow workers. She was then able to file a complaint with the Saudi
police.
She also sought aid from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah, but received no help.
The OFW had also sought assistance from the Philippine Consulate.
The victim is still in Saudi Arabia, under the care of concerned OFWs.

Group raps violent dispersal of distressed Pinoys in Saudi

THE International
Coordinating Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICCHRP) has
assailed the Aquino administration for remaining silent on the crackdown
on undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia.
ICCHRP is a global
network of non-governmental organizations, community and advocate groups
and individuals outside the Philippines that are concerned with the
human-rights situation in the Philippines and supports campaigns to end
rights violations in the country.
The ICCHRP also
condemned the violent dispersal of about 100 stranded undocumented
Filipino workers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on July 2 that led to the
arrest and torture of at least three leaders of the protesting workers
by the Saudi police.
Initial reports
reaching ICCHRP indicate that the violent dispersal was a joint action
by the Saudi police and Philippine Embassy officials.
The arrested Filipinos were also allegedly subjected to electric shock treatment at the Saudi police station.
Migrant Filipino
workers have been demanding their immediate repatriation to the
Philippines, but the Aquino administration has been “noynoying” (doing
nothing) on their urgent plea, Migrante International said.
The stranded
undocumented Filipinos have been camping out in front the Philippine
Embassy in Riyadh after they were forcibly terminated and asked to leave
by their employers when the Saudi government began a crackdown on
undocumented migrant workers several months ago.
They decided to camp
out in front of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh because they have
nowhere else to go after the Saudi government announced that it would
crack down on undocumented migrant workers, Migrante International said
in a statement.
Many of the stranded undocumented Filipinos are women and nursing mothers, including a mother with a four-month-old baby.
Reports from Migrante
International’s Middle East leaders said that in Jeddah, there were
actually 1,400 stranded undocumented Filipinos camped out outside the
consulate.
Another 2,000 are in Riyadh and about 5,000 more are in Jeddah.
Hundreds have camped
out in front the embassy compound after officials decided to padlock and
close the gates of the mission in Riyadh, leaving the stranded
Filipinos without any assistance and provisions such as food, water,
mats and sleeping sheets and shelter from the searing Saudi heat.
On July 2 about a
hundred stranded undocumented Filipinos started a protest in front of
the Philippine Embassy after their request for a dialogue was allegedly
ignored by Ambassador Ezzedin Tago.
The ICCHRP demanded an
immediate investigation into the arrest and torture of the Filipinos,
immediate repatriation for the stranded workers, and the recall,
investigation and expulsion from the foreign service of Tago and other
embassy officials in Saudi Arabia.
“This brutal incident
comes on the heels of the scandal involving Philippine Embassy officials
in the Middle East who reportedly demanded sex from stranded Filipinos
in exchange for air tickets and immediate repatriation to the
Philippines,” the group said.
The plight of Filipino
workers abroad is one of the concerns that will be tackled in the
International Conference for Human Rights and Peace in the Philippines
from July 19 to 21.
Jointly organized by
the ICCHRP, Karapatan, EcuVoice, Peace for Life and the International
League of Peoples’ Struggle, the conference will be attended by more
than 200 human- rights defenders and peace advocates from all over the
globe.

Caregiver EMPOWERMENT DAY. SISTERHOOD OF CAREGIVERS. Woman, you are the Face of God.Women EMPOWERMENT Day with Beyoncé and Salma Hayek. Women's way is not "fight and flight"

All Filipina nannies, caregivers, domestic maids
arriving in Canada, USA, and everywhere in the world
-- should have an EMPOWERMENT DAY
-- an orientation day, an introduction day
-- wherein they are told their rights and
-- wherein they are trained to defend themselves from all kinds of abuses and exploitation
-- especially fight against - working 24 hours a day - everyday - within 7 days a week.
-- All Filipina maids should keep a DAILY LOG SHEET on how many hours they work and what kind of extra work they do, TO PROVE they are being EXPLOITED after their 7 hours or 8 hours shift - that they work 24 hours everyday, 7 days a week!
SISTERHOOD OF CAREGIVERS
We suggest that all organizations like AAFQ establish a Sisterhood of Caregivers -- wherein a member adopts a NEWCOMER caregiver for a year -- to be her guide and mentor, moral support and prevention -- from becoming a slave.
I am a witness to the suffering of my people. I am a chronicler of truth and a catalyst of change... (from The Scholastican)
